About

My name is David Ball and I’m a Cloud Platform Engineer/Architect based in North Carolina.  I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Susan for nearly 30 years, and we are plenty busy with 6 kids and 5, yes 5 soon to be 6 grandkids.  I grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia rooting for UVA, the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Celtics, and the Washington Redskins though I did have a two-year fling with the Eagles.  A couple years ago, against my better judgment, I participating in a fantasy football for a time, which more or less ended any allegiances I had to a single team. I won a league “Super Bowl” and decided to quit and have thankfully been much less obsessive over football. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling and photography.

You’ll also see some posts from my friend and former co-worker Adam Fisher. Adam is Cloud Technical Architect in Apex, NC working for World Wide Technology (WWT).  He has a long background in the Data Center space, which means a lot of VMware, Veeam, DellEMC, NetApp, Cisco and HPE, just to name a handful.  Like many others in the IT industry, he pivoted to public cloud, focused on AWS and VMware Cloud offerings.  Adam is a HUGE music fan and have been playing drums since I was 13.  Being from Pittsburgh, you can imagine who he roots very passionately for, he also loves his alma mater, Virginia Tech.  Adam is also an amateur BBQ pit “master” and enthusiast.
